Signs of a leaking oil tank often include oil stains or puddles around the base of the tank or on the ground beneath it. You may also notice an unusual smell of heating oil in the area. In some cases, the tank may show visible rust or cracks, especially if it’s an older model.

The first thing you should do is get a tin or a catch can to catch the oil at the drip - then immediately call a professional to
pump out the tank and address the issue.
